I became a mother and a small business owner in the same summer. Looking back, I had no idea what I was getting into with either venture, but I'm so glad I took the leap. I was two years cancer-free and felt ready to do something meaningful with my life. I can't quite separate the big feelings of being a new mom from the big feelings of starting a new business, and those early days are a blur of excitement, exhaustion, worry, and joy.

We started Lovett Sundries out of our house, and I remember mixing hand cream while the baby napped, always listening for his cries. Once he could crawl we had to lock away ingredients, and once he could walk we had to move everything to higher shelves.

We had a second baby, and the two of them were constantly with us, always curious and wanting to touch and help. It was so hard, but also so amazing to watch them grow and change as our little business grew and changed.

We moved the business out of our house into a shop just around the corner while our youngest was still in a stroller. She learned to walk in that space while her older brother learned to use markers and scissors and tape.

Eventually we outgrew that space too, and moved to a much bigger shop where our kids can ride scooters on the second floor. Now they come here after school, and if they have to stay home because they are sick they have a cozy work couch to nap on.

I nurture the kids and I nurture the business, and all the parts of my life are inextricably intertwined in a way that is more rewarding than I could ever have imagined.

I can't wait to see what adventures await our family and Lovett Sundries. Thank you for supporting this mom owned business. It means the world to us.

ROSEWATER FACE CREAM

This is by far my favorite face lotion. My mom used to buy Clinique products and would get the “yellow cream” for me. I never bought it because it was too expensive. This Rosewater Face Cream is the closest I have ever experienced to that stuff. It’s light and non-greasy but moisturizing. It is now my favorite go-to for face. The rosewater spray is also awesome!
